Anna Freud Centre
We awarded our first grant to the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families to support them in developing emergency resources for young people’s mental health in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic: https://www.annafreud.org/coronavirus-support/
We were thrilled to help support such a phenomenal charity and look forward to it being the start of an ongoing partnership between Beyond and the Anna Freud Centre.
Blue Smile
Cambridgeshire charity Blue Smile provides 1:1 arts therapy to children at schools in disadvantaged areas who are experiencing complex emotional difficulties. They aim to intervene early to improve long-term wellbeing, with 94% of parents saying their children’s mental health has improved because of Blue Smile’s support.
The charity has adapted its services in the face of the pandemic after seeing a significant increase in mental health difficulties faced by children in Cambridgeshire as a result of lockdown.
We are delighted to provide a grant to help support Blue Smile in their incredible work: bluesmile.org.uk
Hectors House
Set up in memory of Hector Stringer who tragically took his own life at the age of 18, this Hertfordshire based charity’s mission is to stop suicide by making sure everyone has access to the mental health support they need.
We are thrilled to be able to give a grant to the charity to help provide emergency treatment to young people who are in desperate need of therapeutic services during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic: hectorshouse.org.uk
Teapot Trust
Teapot Trust exists to provide early intervention support to children and young people with chronic health conditions across the country. Almost a third of young people who die by suicide in the UK have a physical health condition. By providing professional art therapy to children and young people with debilitating long-term conditions Teapot Trust can improve their emotional wellbeing and prevent serious mental health conditions from developing.
We are very happy to award the charity with a grant as they find their services in demand more than ever before due to the pandemic: teapot-trust.org
Scotty’s Little Soldiers
The charity was set up in memory of Corporal Lee Scott and exists to provide support to bereaved children across the UK, many of whom would otherwise be without help. We provided a grant to aid Scotty’s Little Soldiers with their emotional support for these children.
The Drop In
We were very pleased to award this charity in Dorset a grant to set up their new mental health initiative.
Nearly all of the young people they work with are disadvantaged and vulnerable – with poverty, unemployment, domestic abuse, drug and alcohol addictions, and overcrowded accommodation all playing a large part in their daily lives.
The aim of the initiative is for the young people they work with to develop greater emotional literacy, reduce risky behaviour, and improve their overall mental health.
Quinn’s Retreat
Quinn’s Retreat in Country Durham was setup by parents Tracey and David after they tragically lost both their children Quinn and Dyllon to suicide in less than a year of each other.
The retreat offers a safe space for other families who have been bereaved by suicide.
We were deeply moved by their story and hope that our grant will help them to further improve the support they are able to provide:
