Community & Events Fundraiser

Duration: 12-month fixed term. Part time. 24 hours per week.

Salary: £32,000 per annum, pro rata

Location: Remote with option of one day per week at co-working space. 

Reporting to: Head of Operations

Beyond is a UK-based charity founded in 2018 with a mission to address the growing mental health crisis affecting young people. We strive to increase access to support and create opportunities for early and personalised interventions. Our expert leadership team, guided by lived experiences of mental health treatment, is passionate about transforming society’s approach to youth mental health. Through our ecosystem of resources, including a cross-sector directory of mental health services, financial assistance, and annual festivals, we aim to empower young people and those working with them to improve mental health support.

What we are looking for

Beyond is seeking a dedicated and motivated Community and Events Fundraiser to join our team. The Community and Events Fundraiser will play a crucial role in expanding our reach, raising awareness, and helping ensure the financial sustainability of our mental health provisions in educational settings.

We are dedicated to offering the role to someone who is able to communicate our charity’s purpose and values effectively including but not limited to; eradicating racism that is so often a contributor of poor mental health, campaigning for LGBTQ+ rights and raising the voices of the voiceless and marginalised.

Candidate requirements:

  • Is very creative and agile when it comes to idea generation 
  • Previous experience in community fundraising, events management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in securing funding from community events 
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of the mental health sector, particularly youth mental health, is desirable.
  • Passion for and commitment to improving mental health support for young people.

Responsibilities:

  • Community Engagement:
    • Launch new events and develop an annual calendar of events with budgets and income targets
    • Manage the delivery of new fundraising activities in the events and community program, setting income and expenditure targets and developing relevant campaigns
    • Monitor and manage budgets, creating contingency plans as necessary, in collaboration with the Head of operations.
    • Build strong relationships with the Beyond community, including supporters, volunteers, and individuals directly impacted by our programs.
    • Work closely with the volunteer youth board to ensure their involvement in fundraising activities and incorporate their experiences into donor communications.
    • Attend community events, networking opportunities, and relevant conferences to represent Beyond and expand the donor base.
    • Review and enhance supporter care processes, ensuring fundraisers receive exceptional support, maximising their engagement.
    • Ensure accurate record-keeping of supporter information in the charity’s CRM system, following fundraising guidelines.
  • Fundraising Strategy:
    • Collaborate with our fundraising consultant and freelance grant writer to develop a community and events fundraising strategy, maximising income from these streams 
    • Continuously review the current program of events and community fundraising, identifying growth areas and opportunities for development.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to the team based on analysis and evaluation of fundraising activities.
  • Major Donations:
    • Organise and coordinate fundraising events, charity dinners, sponsored activities, and other initiatives to generate major donations.
    • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, leveraging existing networks and engaging in fundraising activities.
